Currently, 900 million people claim hinduism as their preferred religion, followed by 376 million people following the teachings of buddhism. These two religions are practiced on every inhabited continent on the earth, and they share many similar traits, as well as vast differences. The main similarity of these two religions is their belief in the concept of rebirth. Both Hinduism and Buddhism contain an idea of reincarnation, possess differences of the concept of reincarnation, and have influenced Indian civilization. The belief of reincarnation goes hand-in-hand with the religions of Hinduism and Buddhism. The notion that there are multiple accounts of the birth of a person throughout time is reincarnation. Karma is also relevant in both religions and affects reincarnation. The actions of a person in one life determine the rebirth of that person in another life. If one had good karma by committing themselves to compassion and nonviolence their next life would in return be pleasant.
