A recent study has shown that the typical woman experiences an average of thirteen negative thoughts about her body every day. The same study revealed that 97% of women admit to having at least one daily "I hate my body" moment. When asked to choose their ideal body shapes, 30% of women chose one that is 20% underweight while 44% chose an ideal body shape that is 10% underweight. Also: - 81% of ten-year-old girls experience a fear of being fat - 42% of 1st through 3rd grade girls say they wish they were thinner - 61% of respondents felt ashamed of their hips - 64% felt embarrassed by their stomachs, while 72% were ashamed of their thighs - 7 of 10 women felt angrier and more depressed following the viewing of fashion model images - 25% of "Playboy" centerfold models meet the criteria to be considered anorexic - The average U.S. model weighs 117 lbs and is 5'11 while the average U.S. woman weighs 140 lbs. and is 5'4 - 50% of commercials aimed at women mention physical attractiveness Every year, the average adolescent sees over 5,000 advertisements mentioning attractiveness. A People magazine survey showed that 80% of female respondents felt that women in movies and television programs made them feel insecure about their bodies. Our perception of beauty is destroyed and it started right from childhood. From watching Disney movies with beautiful princesses in them to playing with Barbie dolls who in real life, wouldn't be able to function by the shape and size of its body. We have been pointed in a direction of what beautiful is it's so hard to come back to reality and like what we have been blessed with. Females get looked at in so many different ways. We look at ourselves in a way that no one else sees us. What we see in magazines, commercials or bill boards is beautiful but not the kind of beautiful we should see in ourselves.
