Genetically engineered foods (GMO) are plants or animals created through an experimental technology that merges DNA from different species, creating unnatural combinations of plants, animals, bacteria or viral genes. that cannot occur in nature or in traditional cross-breeding. It can carry many unknown side effects to human. Biologist David Schubert warned, "Children are the most likely to be adversely affected by toxins and dietary problems. Some studies on the effects of genetically modified food has on animals says that it was very scary. GM soy was fed to female rats and most of their babies died within three weeks. The ones that survived later had problems with getting pregnant. The same soy was fed to male rats and their testicles changed from the normal color pink to dark blue. They also reportedly had fewer babies. Reproductive problems also haunt livestock. In 2006, among all of the US population, 1,399,790 Americans were diagnosed with cancer and 564,830 were expected to die. That is more than 1,500 deaths per day. In 2013, there were 1,660,290 cancer cases diagnosed and 580,350 were expected to die. The death rate increased to 1,600 deaths per day. The reason for higher cancer death rates could be what you put in your body. US food campaigner Robert Cohen warned about a GE hormone that is used in cows to stimulate milk, IGF-1.
