The first temptation in Milton's "Paradise Regained," is that of food/bread; clearly in light of “things indifferent.” Satan’s purpose in the poem was to keep the world he conquers in Paradise Lost. However, he tried to change and he also tried to figure out who Jesus was by persuading him. Then the demonic council, which was an emergency council of devils, bid by Satan and he gives them the bad news about the God’s son. Therefore, wanted to ruin it and not expect miracles. Throughout an aged man in rural weeds, Satan disliked an old farmer. Satan pretended to be looking for his abandoned sheep. Furthermore, Satan appeared astonished when he saw Jesus. Then John the Baptist that was the baptizing prophet. Satan goes to our new baptizing prophet at the ford and Satan recognized Jesus from the baptism and Satan pretended to be a believer. If thou be the Son of God, Satan tells Jesus he can turn rocks into bread and wanted to prove he was the son of God which he wasn’t, but wanted for Jesus to help him because he was hungry; therefore, this was all a trick. Furthermore, Balaam, Reprobate, he was not a Jew or in any way connected with God, but was something that was specified the Jews were holy. Then Satan teases the advice and Belial and they danced naked before King Solomon. Belial who was the sex devil told Satan to attract Jesus with women. Therefore, there was a homosexual attraction going on. Hylas was a friend and a lover of Hercules and Ganymede was Zeus lover. Furthermore, then their was a banquet and in that banquet Satan provided lots of food for Jesus and he also provided beautiful tempting people that Satan wanted Jesus to have sex with and wanted Jesus to eat out of that food, but he resisted not to eat out of it. The temptation of food having failed, Satan then turns to more spectacular temptations. But these too are “things indifferent.” To be sure Paradise Regained was full of plenty of traditional epics
