? Do you eat biotech foods? In this day and age you probably are and don’t even know it. Over recent years science has advanced in so many ways to a point where it is just mindboggling. Some would argue that these new creations are helpful and good for society and the economy. Others would say this is mad and we are simply fooling with what Mother Nature has given us. Science is now capable of manipulating the very basis of life. This code that these scientists are now able to tap into determines the class as to which the organism belongs along with its physical description as well, not only are we able to control what it looks like but the size, shape and metabolic activity as well. This is known as the phenotype of any living creature (Lewinton, Richard). Being able to alter this code has led to much advancement such as cross breeding and making variations of different life forms. These variations are known as Genetically modified Organisms (FDA) , they are altered for their specific traits. DNA technology connects the genes from two different sources to make them one. An area that I find the most peculiar is when it comes to genetically modified food, foods that have been genetically altered in size to appear larger (FDA). Some of the positive effects in having genetically altered crops is that we can make them as big as wish so there are larger crops to feed more people. These crops are also easier to harvest in bad weathers and cold winters, and pests such as insects that could possibly destroy the crop. Food that can be grown in almost any kind of environments and can withstand so many outside factors and still tastes just the same is a huge accomplishment for farming techniques. We are dealing with so many issues in this day and age the possibility that our fossil fuels are diminishing, animal species such as the tuna fish dying out this could be our cure to world hunger. Genetically altered food does provide
