When I first witnessed an individual with postpartum depression, I was with my step-sister. She had just delivered a beautiful baby boy who she named Arian. Everyone was crazy for him and he was happy and healthy. But my step sister couldn't stop crying. We are very close and tell each other just about anything. When I asked her why she was crying so much she told me that the reason she was crying was because she wasn't good enough for her son. I remember like if it were yesterday. I just started to laugh and she began to cry again. She had grown an unconditional love for a little creature she had created and thought she wasn't good enough for him.
