The legalization of same sex marriage has been a topic of debates for a period of years. The issue focuses on the foundation of certain laws for prohibiting such. In addition, the amount of moral or religious apprehensions makes the legalization of gay marriages nearly impossible. However, while same sex marriage is an act that strays from the teachings of the church, legalizing it will benefit the realization of the tendencies of man. This proposed review will provide the advantages of legalization of gay marriage and acceptance throughout parts of America including conservative and liberal states and show that people can help create a world where all are treated equally in our churches, communities, schools, and workplace regardless of sexual orientation. Francis Bellamy certainly could not have possibly imagined the profound weight of the words "for liberty and justice for all  (Bellamy) that he penned many years ago. Across the country, citizens of the United States pledge this verse with their hands over their hearts, facing the flag of the nation that represents and upholds these ideals for individualism. Yet, discriminatory liberties and unequal freedoms are plentiful, often running amuck throughout the United States. From the African-Americans to gays, minorities have struggled to find their voice in America; however, these groups have still found a way to progressively alter public conceptualization of their place in society. Allowing gays to marry is a critical step this country needs to take in order to progress culturally, economically, and globally as leaders in a more tolerant and peaceful world. Think on the present and the past and erase the word "marriage." This "is more than a bond between individuals; it also links them to the community  (Rauch 210). Reflect on childhood without having a perspective on what marriage even is. The first kiss you have would lead you to another, without the anticipation of marriage, along with the discovery of sex, this too, without the anticipation of marriage. Imagine not only yourself without marriage but a culture without marriage. Now imagine the first recorded marriage as a same sex marriage. Is that deemed as wrong? Towards the last decade of the century a miracle happened, although some would call this a nightmare.
