The Community- Cheektowaga Cheektowaga is a town in Erie County, New York. This writer selected this community which is used as an example of social context in a research project using Warren’s theoretical framework. Cheektowaga has a total population of 9,000 persons. Cheektowaga is in the north central part of the region and the second major suburb of Buffalo, New York. The Town of Cheektowaga was formerly a country farming area and widely industrialized following World War II. The Town of Cheektowaga grew much during the 1950’s when manufacturing jobs came into place. Organizations and Five Functions of the Community The first organization in Cheektowaga is the Walden Galleria Mall. The Galleria Mall is a delimited, upscale shopping center and is the largest and most action-packed mall in the Buffalo-Niagara region. This mall should be in the category of production-distribution-consumption. The function of production-distribution-consumption may be correlated with the local contribution in the procedure of producing, allocating, and consuming products. These products and amenities are part of normal living, and access to which is needed by the direct community. The Walden Galleria Mall not only provides to those who want to shop, go to the Regal Cinema or eat, but delivers many jobs to those in the community since the mall expanded in 2006. Currently, those who work in the mall are installing new Italian marble floors throughout this shopping center. Not only will the Walden Galleria Mall offer specific goods and services; however, it will change their delivery from one form of auspices to another, ensuring substantial consequences. The second organization in Cheektowaga is the Bellevue Fire Company, District #9, which is located on 511 Como Road. This organization’s function should be in the category of mutual support. Bellevue Fire Company was established after World War II. Furthermore, when this fire department was in full swing, it had many quarrels regarding how to bring together this organization. Eventually, five members were chosen to direct activities and ever since, they have been serving their district with both integrity and pride, towards those in their community, for over 47 years. As an example, there are many volunteer firefighters who help protect their community. Mutual support is achieved close by and mainly under most important group sponsorships such as families, community groups, spiritual groups, and companionship groups. The knowledge of this function in addition to community differences transformed to support much of these mutual support purposes. The third organization in Cheektowaga is Cheektowaga Central School District. This community’s high school is positioned east of Buffalo. The function of this organization fits in the category of socialization. This function proves to perform well due to it involving the procedure by which society or one of the basic community elements carried out leading knowledge of social ethics, and social patterns to its individual participants.
