TENARIS XP BUTTRESS CONNECTION Introduction Tenaris has developed a new technology on premium connection that follows an API standard. Connection can be divided into two, either the company want to use an API Standard or a Premium Standard. Tenaris produces a pin by pin product which is connected by a coupling connection. They given a named to one of their product by Tenaris XP Buttress Connection that is very compatible to the tubing and a casing size ranging from 4.50 inches to 16 inches in diameter. Overview Figure 1 shows the connection produced by Tenaris. This is very compatible to the API standards where they can have both premium and API standards working at the same time together. This product is specially designed for shouldered coupling connections, and it is also offers an extra amount of torque to the connection and yet it can be very robust. It also can resist a large magnitude of compression and provides greater make up stability than the standard buttress connections. Being a compatible API, the operators can use standard API accessories to it and draw on a wide range to the trading and repairing connections shop. Hence, it is very good to choose this TenarisXP as coupling connection to any drilling job. Besides, they are also configured with a seal ring unit, where it is useful when the operation meets the shale formation. This will prevent the pipe from getting stuck at particular depth since the design is validated with undergoing some protocol tests. Basically they have two parts in this connection which play major roles in TXP. They have two options, either to have a special clearance or a seal ring inside the connection thread. THE BAKER HUGHES TORXS LINER HANGER SYSTEM Introduction Many oil and gas companies produced their own expandable liner hanger such as Weatherford and etc. The expandable liner hanger system is a system for increasing the diameter of the casing or liner of an oil well by up to 30% after it has been run down-hole. Otherwise, to reduce the loss of diameter each time a new casing string or liner is set, a cold working process has been developed whereby the casing or liner can be expanded by up to 20% in diameter after being run down-hole. For this purpose, an expansion tool that exceeds the inner diameter of the tube by the required amount of expansion is forced through the pipe. This is can be done either hydraulically, by applying mud pressure, or mechanically, by pulling the conical or tapered expansion tool. The expansion needs to be reliable, when expanding several thousand feet below the surface. This can be from 30–6,000 feet in length. The Baker Hughes TORXS Liner Hanger System The Baker Hughes TORXS liner hanger system provides a cost-effective, safe, and reliable method for running and setting liner hangers. It is the only expandable liner hanger system that combines world-class liner equipment and experience, ZX™ metal-to-metal expandable sealing technology for added liner top sealing reliability, and seamless, one-trip, two-stage setting without requiring a plug bump (Figure 2.1). Special about this expandable systems, it is also the only unit that releases before cementing.
