“The right of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed” -2nd Amendment The Second Amendment of the Bill of Rights, gives us the right to remain safe and secure by bearing arms for reasons of security. Our government gave us the second amendment for the reason that they felt we need protection and we need to be safe in our own homes. They said we can have a gun but it has to stay in our houses unless you, etc the requirements to hold a license to bear arms (hunters, police officers, detectives, etc.) How many people in our society really listen to that rule? What makes them different? Anybody that has a gun can abuse their power with or without a license. Look at what happened in California with the police officer, a former LAPD Officer and a former United States Navy reservist, Christopher Dorner went on a killing spree killing officers and then later killing himself. If guns are given to use so we can kill others and kill ourselves then go ahead and give a gun to depressed people, suicidal people, serial killers, etc. Since the government feel as though we need some type of protection let’s take a look at the deaths by firearms in this year alone (school year,) the shooting at sandy hook, shooting(s) at Suitland high school, Trayvon Martin, Batman movie release, etc there were 6 total shootings this school year alone in PG County so therefore I would like to thank the government for placing guns in our hands, the Trayvon Martin shooter I thank you, Sandy Hook shooter I thank you, Batman movie shooter I thank you, Suitland High school shooters oh man I thank you, the Ex LAPD officer I really thank you. This is supposed to be the “land of the free and home of the brave” but why are we still in bondage within ourselves?
