On September 11, 2001, four American Airline flights were hijacked. Two hit the World Trade Center in New York City, one crashed into a field in Pennsylvania, and the fourth crashed into the Pentagon. Killing nearly three-thousand people, it was the most fatal terrorist attack committed against the United States in our history. Most Americans remember where they were and what they felt when these events were happening. Since then almost every detail to why it happened are still being debated. People started asking questions just days after the attack and conspiracy theories started forming. Many people believe the attacks were terrorists attacks coordinated by Osama Bin Laden and the Al-Qaeda group. While others believe conspiracies that have been formed stating that the government was behind the attack on the United States even before it took place. George W. Bush states in sadness, "Today we've had a national tragedy. Two airplanes have crashed into the World Trade Center in an apparent terrorist attack on our country" (Bush 1). For many reasons, most accept the truth is that terrorists were in full responsibility for this day. According to the Scholastics news, the truth is that a total of nineteen terrorists hijacked the four planes on September 11th, 2001. All from nations in the Middle East who belonged to a terrorist group called Al Qaeda. Officials believe that the terrorists intentions were to destroy the United States capitol and the White House. The group has extremely negative feelings toward the United States and are against any military presence within their nation. They were supposedly acting in revenge because of Americans support in Israel. According to the History Channel some of the terrorists had lived in the United States for more than a year and went to flying school.
