The Syrian uprising was an armed conflict between forces loyal to President Bashar al-Assad of the Syrian Ba'ath party and those seeking to finish it. The struggle began in 2011. These demonstrations have been related to the wider Middle Eastern protest movement known as the "Arab Spring." Mr Assad's government then decided to use Syrian Army to crush the civilian uprising this action by the Syrian regime pushed the protests towards an armed rebellion leading to an all-out civil war. Syrian opposition forces are mainly composed of soldiers who have changed sides and civilian volunteers. On the other hand Syrian government and its armed forces are supported by Russia, China and Iran. It has also been reported by media that Qatar and Saudi Arabia are transferring weapons to the fighting forces of the Syrian opposition who are fighting the forces of Mr Assad. While the Arab League, European Union, United States, and other western countries condemn the use of violence against the protesters by Syrian Army they are at the moment giving restricted military support to the Syrian opposition. Death toll has reportedly crossed 100,000 according to the United Nations also according to the UN, about 4 million Syrians have been displaced within the country and 2 million have fled to other countries. It is believed that Syria has the world's third-largest stockpile of chemical weapons. In March 2013, both the regime and the opposition blamed each other for using chemical weapons. A detailed report of the findings had been submitted to the UN, but was not released to the public. A U.N. report stated that there are "reasonable grounds" to believe that limited amounts of chemical weapons have been used in at least four attacks in the civil war, but more evidence is needed to determine the exact chemical agents used or who was responsible the report stated that it has not been possible "to determine the precise chemical agents used, their delivery
