Diana Spencer, also known as Lady D (in Italy) and as Lady Di (in England) was the fourth of five children of Viscount and Viscountess Althorp. The Spencers are one of the oldest and most important British families, closely connected with the royal family for several generations. During childhood, Diana was particularly noted for her shyness, but that did not stop her from loving music and dance. She also had a great love for children. In fact, after having attended the Institut Alpin Videmanette, a school located in Switzerland, the young woman moved to London and began working as a nanny, accepting the job as assistant at the Young England kindergarten. After several casual encounters and organized by Prince Charles, the young girl was welcomed by the Queen, the Duke of Edinburgh and the Queen Mother. Then the identity of the new partner of Prince Charles is discovered, and Diana is followed by the press and photographers, and gradually her fame grows. Meanwhile, the meetings with Charles continued, and in the following weeks Diana was a guest of the Royal Family in the various residences distributed throughout UK. With the months passing by, the press and the people were more and more convinced that she would be the bride of the Prince of Wales. Finally, on February 6, 1981, Charles invited Diana to Windsor Castle and asked her to marry him. She agreed immediately, but the news was kept secret for the next four weeks. After the announcement of the engagement, Diana flew to Australia with her mother and stepfather for a vacation of 10 days, well knowing that it would be her last period of peace. Back in London, she moved to a suite in Buckingham Palace where she studied the royal protocol - such as public speaking, healthy and deal with the servants. She was also a guest at Clarence House, the residence of the Queen Mother, who taught her the proper behavior required of a member of the Royal Family. The wedding took place Wednesd
