Current economic trends have allowed an era of growth in gender relations. Although it has been a rocky path, the tide is turning in favor of equality and the need for women to join the workforce, has become greater than ever. The middle class has never been in such a financial crisis, which has led women into the workforce to subsidize the family income. The end of the cookie cutter era of the fifties is over, women are no longer stay at home moms. The women today are actually more likely to receive a bachelor’s degree than their male counterpart. Women are just as likely to receive a master’s degree, but fail to break the barrier for professional and doctoral degrees. This perseverance has benefited the margin between men and women. There are currently nearly as many women as men within the workplace, but the pay scale still tips in favor of men. The corporations of today still share the same notions from the past, which women will be trained wait till they have worked for them for a year then get pregnant and leave. Although there is some truth to this notion, women return to the workplace because they must to survive. There has even been an additional term added for women when reviewing job types, pink collar jobs which are viewed as women’s work. The great part about this is that women have surpassed these set positions, which are viewed as socially acceptable. Gender inequality is common and is likely to continue, but it has decreased over time. If the current trends continues within the political sphere, women will soon be compensated as equals. In the instance that this bill would come to pass, this revolutionize and equalize the workforce culture is what influences people habitual feeling on the subject, which can be changes through personal experience.
