The end of junior year was fast approaching, and the entire grade knew what that meant: time for the big research paper. At the high school I attended, Christian Brothers High School, when your junior year came around you had to complete a research at the end of the second semester to be able to pass English class. This research paper was assigned at the end of the year because it was meant to evaluate all of the knowledge we had gained during the year and put everything we had learned into one paper. Everyone hated the idea of having to complete the research paper at the end of the year because all we could think about at the time was summer and all the fun that was about to begin. I came to the realization that this paper was going to be a struggle because of the topic, citing, and the thought of summer being so close, but I decided that I had to step up and finish out the year strong. The main reason why everyone gets nervous about the research paper is that it counts for twenty percent of our semester grade so if a person makes a poor grade it could end up hurting his or her overall GPA very heavily. I knew coming into the paper I was going to end up with a high GPA so I did not want to do anything dumb that might affect that. Before this research paper I had only completely one once before in middle school so I was not really sure what to expect or familiar with the steps to creating a neatly organized research paper. The first thing that scared me about this research paper was the topic. The topic for the paper was to express our ideas about how writing styles from the early time periods are still used today and how they have changed throughout time. I found this topic some what challenging because of the way styles of writing have changed throughout time, but they have also remained very similar in some ways as well. For example, most writers in early time used to be very formal with their writing but that has changed drastically
