Tom Benecke stood there knowing that the longer he would be up on that ledge the more tired his legs would get. His legs were shaking and it looked as if he could barely move his feet. It would be hours before Clare arrives home and he can't take another four hours standing there on a ledge. With the yellow paper in his hand and all the things in his pocket gone he needed to find a way to call attention of a bystander or get out of the situation himself. "Help, help me," Tom screamed from the top of his lungs. Tom continued this for twenty straight minutes but with the noise of cars and other things no one heard him and no one even bothered to look up. Tom stopped and was out of breath and left himself gasping and trying to swallow his own saliva but that only made him thirstier. All of a sudden Tom had the necessity to look down on the ledge and there he sees 2 pennies and a dime. This was Tom's last chance if he wanted to get the attention of a bystander down below. Without hesitation Tom plucked one of the pennies down and hit a teenager on top of the head (the kid only reacted because he was bald). The boy looked up and simply gave Tom the finger and walked away. "You hit me in the head and you expect me to help you? I'll show you how to hit somebody on the head, shouted the boy. Now, Tom only had a penny and a dime and he decided to throw both of them at the same time. He did just that and ended up rolling into a sewer hole without anyone noticing. Tom's chances of getting attention were gone. With the boy coming back for Tom who thought that he would get help from him and be down within an hour. Suddenly a gust of wind blew Tom down to his knees and forced him to grab the ledge with his hands and letting his paper go and be gone with the wind.
