Abstract For many years, we have noticed the rise and the spread of media stereotypes among people around the world. In the light of this, the current essay attempts to examine the influence of media stereotypes on the general public's opinion. The researcher also attempts throughout the course of the discussion to clarify the effects that media stereotypes leave on people, whether they are positive or negative ones and how sometimes certain propaganda mislead the public community. In order to know more about stereotypes, the researcher used a questionnaire, which was distributed to some colleagues, conducted several interviews, and read different pieces of research. The results of the essay show why people tend to judge and make assumptions about others and the consequences that follow from such behaviors and how the misuse of media contributes to the prejudgment of people. In addition the results show that while stereotypes are considered to have negative effects by some people, they are considered to have positive effects by others. Introduction Broadcast media-stereotypes not only provide new information about various things in the world, but they also transfer the beliefs and values of a particular society to other societies; to form a certain image about it to the outside world. Due to that, many individuals misuse those stereotypes and begin to judge people because of their social group, skin color, origin, religion and even their gender. This research has been made to help the people realize how media reinforced stereotyping and prejudgment through shows, movies, newspapers and the internet. In fact, the chief reason for writing about the stereotypes in media, and how bad propaganda misleads the public, is the wide spread use of them and the powerful effect that they have on the public community. Due to the wide spread of stereotypes, many people, societies and cultures have been misrepresented in an absurd and an unmannerly way, as they are stereotyped in a negative way. Media is found in every individual's life, whether they are a seven-year old person or a ninety-year old, it is everywhere, leaving no room for escape. Stereotypes are found everywhere, and although our world seems to be developing in many aspects, however, it seems that it is almost impossible to liberate it from stereotypes. Stereotypes in media are usually hidden through humor, or the description of others. As a result, I think many people are unaware of such stereotyping which they themselves use in their everyday life. Media perpetuates stereotypes, how can we combat them or are we extremely unconscious to these stereotypes? This will be discussed and analyzed furthermore in this research. I want to start off by saying that not all propaganda is bad, but Joseph Goebbels has once stated that "Propaganda has absolutely nothing to do with the truth"(Goebbels, 1933). For those of you who are not quite certain about what propaganda means, I will give you a brief definition of it. Propaganda is simply the manipulation of public opinion (Oxford English Dictionary).Propaganda is usually carried out through media such as the television and the internet because it is capable of reaching a wide range of people all over the world, affecting them and persuading them for or against a cause.
