The trait that most leaders have or at least good ones have,is the readiness to always confront unequivocally. Ralph had that one trait, therefore he is clearly the better leader. Ralph was the better leader and would of easily ended up being a great leader if he and jack would of made up.Ralph was really the only boy to let everyone talk and have a kind of democracy. For example, ''I'll give the conch to the next person to speak. He can hold it when he is speaking" (33). The significance of this quote is to show that Ralph is willing to allow other people to have a voice in his leadership.Unlike jack who later becomes a violent uncivilized savage quickly in the story. Jack's leadership based on violence would have quickly ended because people would get mad at what violent he was, then a new person would take his place and it would more than likely be a new jack. Ralph's way of leading would have been much more peaceful and more people would be happy because of his willingness to let others voice concerns about his leadership. For example when Jack tortured the twins that were with Ralph to make them join him that closest make a good band between them and it will lead to hate later.Because they only joined jack out of the fear that he may kill him.Jack was planning to kill Ralph because he wouldn't join him. This all easily proves Ralph is a much better leader then Jack or at least would have ended as a better one if history has taught me anything.Ralph was also a much better leader because he was so much more rational than Jack was.Piggy was also rational but he was unable to gain the respect needed from the other boys. One instance of this is when Jack needed fire to cook the pig they had just killed. He said,''We shall take fire from the others"(161). Jack straight away went to violence. He and 2 other boys attacked Ralph's group for Piggy's glasses. That quote by Jack matters a lot and it really shows what he is like with his willingness
