In the world we live, a society isn't just a large group of people who live close geopolitically. From the backbone to details, a society has very complicated structure, and all of factors inside correlate each other on the way it operates. Here are two societal theories that have influenced to today's world the most, and there were keen competition in between. The fight is settled down, but it is still debatable because the opposite theory can have far better solutions to the present problems. Although nations, United States and European countries, that follow J. S. Mill's ideology, capitalism and individualism, to form their fundamental socioeconomic standard have achieved their leading status in the world over ones follow Marx's one, Communism, the world that Marx dreamed of is actually a better one to pursuit maximum happiness than Mill's. It can be proved by reflecting Marx's thoughts into the problems of the current Mill's society in aspects of economy, education, and morality. Education is one of the most fundamental systems, which has a major role on providing new labor force and putting newer thoughts into a society so that a society can keep running and developing itself. The definition of good education can vary by the important value a society pursuit. Even though Mill and Marx have the opposite perspective on defining good education, it turned out that Marx's belief on education is required to correct the current educational system following Mill. Mill says, "the importance of individuality of character, and diversity in opinions and modes of conduct, involves, as of the same unspeakable importance, diversity of education. A general State education is a mere contrivance for molding people to be exactly like one another: and as the mold in which it casts them is that which pleases the predominant power in the government" (On Liberty. P.108). Mill thinks that a government's unified education system is only good for satisfying a small number of ruling elites so educational diversity is needed for making better output from schools. Like Mill says, from elementary-school-level to university-level, educational institutions have tons of diversity, such as technology specialized schools, Christian schools, and Native American school, for cultivating the right person for a society's needs or for raising children under certain customs. However, it is easy to result in lowering social class mobility in the society. It is natural consequence in a society of individuality because there isn't any responsibility on people to take care of ones in the other groups, and this social phenomenon will bring negative outcome to the society. Marx says, "And your education is not that also social and determined by the social conditions under which you educate ¦ The Communists seek to alter the character of that intervention, and to rescue education from the influence of the ruling class. (The Communist Manifesto. P.31.). Marx insists the public education that can provide relatively equal opportunities to children regardless their parents' incom
