Every year thousand of student pour onto college campuses all across America. All wanting the same thing, which is to obtain a college degree. Many kids dream their whole lives about this mythological type of place. Where you can be on your own and make your own choices! Not having mom or dad nag at you to do your homework;to do chores. But, is this really what high school graduates think of when they think of college? Indeed they do, from personal experience I can vouch the fact that being on my own was very intriguing. What many people dont truly realize is the hardwork behind college. Melanie, a recent high school student in Rebecca Coxs story The Student Fear Factor ,goes on to explain the tough transition from high school to college. Melanie goes on to explain the tremendous pressure from herself. Now knowing that she is undoubtedly on her own. She cant copy off some of her friends and, cant ask friends about test. Sadly, that she had to figure the whole college lifestyle out on her own. For many 18 year olds that is a big transition into adulthood. Melanie had a revelation that her whole demeanor about her schooling was gonna make her grow up. From the moment she walked onto campus her head was spinning about the things she had to do. The many things that would forever change her life. During this time she started to feel very sick, and rushed to the bathroom. The anxiety of being a college student is very overwhelming. In many cases, its part of becoming mature and growing up. During her time in high school she was never the best at school. She thanks her community for not forcing every kid to have great grades. Unlike Zionsville the school in which I grew up. In doing so, it helped her stay calm while actually taking her college classes.
