Executive Summary Aim of this report is to have a better understanding about area of employee relations which covers a broad range of topics centered on the behavior and interaction of people in the workplace. Entire report is about employee relations in a toys manufacturing company. In this toys manufacturing company Employees have a trade union and all employees have obtained the membership. There is no trust between management and trade union members. Hence in the first part of this report has described the unitary and pluralistic fames of references. Then according to the given scenario this report has become a conclusion that the toy manufacturing company is practicing the pluralistic framework. After that report has assessed how changes in trade union have affected employee relations in toys manufacturing company. Then report has explained the role of the main players in employee relations for the above case in toys manufacturing company. In here report has mentioned employees, top management, HR department, trade union and state as the main players in employee relations regarding to the case. In the second task of this report has described the procedures that toys manufacturing company should follow when dealing with different conflict situations. And also it has explained the key features of employee relations for this conflict situation. After that has evaluated the effectiveness of procedures used in this conflict situation. In the third task report has Explain the role of negotiation in collective bargaining for this organization. Then report has assessed the impact of negotiation strategy for this given situation. In here negotiation strategy has impacted on employees and employers positively as well as negatively. Then in the forth task report has compared methods that can use to gain employee participation and involvement in the decision making process of this organization. And also report has assessed the impact of human resource management on employee relations for this organization. Finally in fifth task report has assessed the influence of the EU on industrial democracy in the UK. Introduction Employee relations are the solid relationship that should exist between the employer and the employee related to employment matters in order to achieve the goals and the objectives of both the parties. By having a good relationship, they can achieve industrial peace, ensure industrial democracy, increase organizational productivity and minimize disputes between the management and the trade unions. The main objective of the employer is having a long term business existence and high profitability and the main objective of the employee is to have job security and receive a better salary. The main obstacle for the effective industrial relationship is because there is an increase relationship between these two employer and the employee's goals since; when the employer pays high salary, his profitability would reduce. If the employee and the employee don't have a good relationship, that is if the management doesn't give importance to its employees, the employees will form a trade union or join an existing trade union in the organization. Trade union is a specific union which has been formed by the existing employees of the business with the main intention of protecting employee rights. Generally trade unions provide a greater bargaining power to all the employees. Most of the trade unions take industrial actions in order to take the attention and the permission or the authority of the employer to a specific request which is made by the trade union. Any sort of a dis-agreement that would occur between the employer and the employees in a professional level can be classified under an industrial dispute. They should be properly solved; otherwise it would lead for industrial actions. Accordingly, the Toy Company in the UK is going to experience another trade union action because of the bad relationship they have with the management. But till today, they have won only three cases out of eighteen. Task 1 1.1 unitary and pluralistic framework in a organization Unitary Ideology In unitary ideology, the organization is perceived as an integrated and harmonious system, viewed as one happy family. A core assumption of unitary approach is that management and staff, and all members of the organization share the same objectives, interests and purposes; thus working together, hand-in-hand, towards the shared mutual goals. Furthermore, unitary has a paternalistic approach where it demands loyalty of all employees. Trade unions are deemed as unnecessary and conflict is perceived as disruptive. Employee point of view, unitary approach means that: Working practices should be flexible. Individuals should be business process improvement oriented, multi-skilled and ready to tackle with efficiency whatever tasks are required.
