?A very good morning and a very warm welcome to all ladies and gentlemen, I’m very glad that today so many of you are attending our Brainy Montessori’s open day. Thank you for giving me a chance, standing in front here to share some information with you all. Sadly to tell, everyday once we open and read the newspaper sure will come across with some articles related to violence involving students, problematic family, why a student choose to jump down from a high building to end up their life or even why more youngster tend to abandon their family and choose to stay with their friend. Why all this problems are more often to happen today? What is disturbing our children’s mind? What causes all this irrational behavior in them? And how does this problems going to solve? All these questions that lack of clear answer, but one thing is evident: parent the child’s worldviews and attitudes towards social environment. The important role that a parent play in their children lives help children develop towards specific socialization patterns, which later they will apply in their daily life and may be in their future families. I truly believe and agree that the words in Three Character Classic one of the Chinese classic text which was attributed to Wang Yinglin during the Song Dynasty. In the first paragraph of the book it states that “Men at their birth are naturally good. Their nature is much the same; their habits become widely different.” The Confucianists believe that people are born pure; none of us is born with bad behaviors or attitudes. (Lau, 2003) For example, our new born baby is just like the plain A4 paper with nothing, we as the parent will write on it with our own creativity, with different colours pen to make it more attractive, more colourful and more wonderful. Ladies and gentleman, what do you understand about parenting? Parenting or in another word child rearing is the process of promoting and supporting the physical, emotional, social, and intellectual development of a child from infancy to adulthood. Parenting also refers to the aspects of raising a child aside from the biological relationship. (Wikipedia, 2014) First and foremost, it is very important for every family to set parenting goals. Instead of just accepting the way our home meant to be, why don’t we just think about reachable goals that we can work on? When we do things in plan, we can skip away all the unnecessary failures and strive to help our children feel and be more successful. (Jungreis-Woff, S. (1995-2014)) Here are some parenting goals that I would like to share. Parenting goals 1. Always keep our eyes open I know all of us are very busy and it is truth that cannot be denied. Even though we are busy but we can’t just ignore the problems instead we must notice what is going wrong around us including our children. Sometimes we do notice that is something that doesn’t feel right with our children but we tend to get distracted because of some other things. (Jungreis-Woff, S. (1995-2014)) We all have great pressures and responsibilities that pulling us in to different directions. Never allow the problems with your child to fester and grow. Open your eyes and observe the emotional changes that they make like they seem sad, withdrawn, distant, and more moody than usual or simply showing anger on small things. Recognize if there is a greater confrontation between the child and siblings, if his friends stop calling or come over to play or if the child seem can’t find a place in school. Don’t let all these small problems accumulate and have now become a situation that requires major time and investment to solve and also will cause terrible aggravation in future. (Jungreis-Woff, S. (1995-2014)) Like the phrase we always say “prepare the umbrella before the rain”. 2. Learn to develop a better relationship with teachers When our children reach certain age, we need to send them for school and this is the time where it comes to we as the parent must interact and start develop a relationship with the teachers. Any changes in life can bring nervousness, worry and irritability. Same goes to our
