Public speaking is never a comfortable experience for most of people and also one of the most challenging tasks that every of us has to confront at least once in our lives. It is undeniable that public speaking plays a key role in a successful career no matter who you are, a businessman or an engineer. Fortunately, I had chance to attend a speech session of 2 SUNY Plattsburgh alumnus to listen to them sharing their own public speaking experience and how it has effectively influenced their desirable success. The speech has satisfied most of rhetorical requirements. The ethos was well established and developed during the whole speech. It was also the principal rhetorical appeal of this speech. At first, both speakers introduced themselves and why they were invited to give the speech. It helped them express their sincerity and earn credit from the audience which was consisted of students, who need to decide whether or not to trust and learn their experience, and staff at SUNY Plattsburgh, who used to cooperate with them and could verify what they were going to speak. Their speech afterwards was very creative that increased their trust worthiness. They did it in the form of an interview. Because they got to know each other so well, then they could not tell any lies, otherwise the other would detect that. Moreover, their stories about their careers were also well developed and effectively attracted the audience since they motivated the students to achieve success in the way the speaker did. One of the speaker, who is one of the top manager at a government organization, even provided some statistics about her job including the starting income, the prospective in that field of service. These easily verifiable figures also built up her credibility. Pathos also showed up in this speech. It was mainly used by the speaker who is a successful reporter of a well-known media cooperation.
