As an active United Youth Australia member, I would like to discuss with you Global Warming and Climate Change, and the impact of human activities on these two issues. Global warming is the rise in the average temperature of the Earth’s atmosphere and oceans. These changes in turn affect the world’s climate patterns. Scientists have shown that human activity over the last century has significantly increased Global temperature and cause extreme weather patterns. I am here to tell you that we should take care of our mother Earth. Have you ever wondered what will happen if we keep destroying it? Global warming is a problem we cannot neglect. Global warming can cause lost of habitat for animals, plants and people. Scientists have shown that sea levels are increasing, subtropical deserts are expanding and slowly forests numbers are reducing. More importantly these will results in the lost of habitat for many species on Earth, including humans. The lost of forests is particularly important because they act like lungs for the Earth, producing clean air for humans to breathe in. If we don’t have forests, where does carbon dioxide go? How does human and animals live without nature? If we lose our habitat, we will not survive on this Earth! Also harmful greenhouse gases produce by human activity can increase Global warming and climate change. Burning of fossil fuels, such as car usage, can produce carbon dioxide, which is a greenhouse gas. One of the major contributors of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere is from energy production. Carbon dioxide can trap heat produced by the sun, therefore making the Earth warmer. In order to reduce carbon dioxide in the atmosphere we need to adopt clean alternative energy production such as solar energy, wind energy, hydro energy and wave energy. As you can see, greenhouse gases produced by humans can cause global warming, and one of the ways of reducing greenhouse gasses is to choose clean alterna
