A Modest Proposal In "A Modest Proposal Jonathan Swift who is an Irish author suggests that children, especially those who are one year old from poor families should be sold to rich English people and be eaten by them. He came up with this idea as the result of a huge poverty in the county, unemployment, and overpopulation. He thinks that his proposal could solve economic, political and social problems. Economy was one of the essential issues at that time. There were many families who spent their time on the street with their children, they were begging, and they were deprived and unemployment. Some of the children were dying because of the lack of food and the cold. Overpopulation was another problem that faced the country. He says that everyday is like death to them so it is better to use this plan to provide a good life. Consequently, this proposal would solve economic problems and boost the economy because the taste of those children would be so delicious that they would have to be sold at an expensive price. He requested that not only beggar children would be sold but also all the children whose parents could not be able to support them. This is because the parents would not get any advantage from their children, they would make their life more complicated. However if they sell them, it would make their life easier. It would give the parents a little income so they would be able to afford rent which was a big problem in the country at that time. He also suggested that the rich could cook the babies by stewing, roasting, baking, and boiling to make them a tasty food. So, it would also make a better spot for tourists, and it would allow the country to be famous and many visitors would come there. It would also allow a maximum number of guests to attend their celebrations. He wanted to reduce poverty by this proposal. His point is to make the rich people need the poor people and help them to make their life better. Additionally
