In the film “Higher Learning,” there were various youngsters from different social back grounds, as well as different countries and races. They all attended Columbus University where they all encountered their own share of problems. Some of these included financial issues, self-doubt, sexual/ nonsexual harassment, and lastly personal safety. All these students were forced to integrate with one another and got caught up in complications. Hence all of the problems that arise throughout the film, there are also a great deal of themes present in the movie as well. Some of the many themes include education, family, socialization, diversification, and social environment. Education was in my opinion the biggest theme in the film. However the professor goes on to say that he will not be graded on a different standard because of his race or his ability to run track. This showed that even though Malik had other talents he still had to meet his educational requirements like everyone else and he did so by getting the help from a tutor. The theme of family also was important in the film because each student was struggling to fit in so they just wanted to find a group of people that accepted them and took the role of being their family while at school. For Malik he found a comfort zone in his friend named Fudge where his views were challenged within politics and race in America. Kristen thought she had found a group of friends but after being invol
