Our environment is made up of the surrounding areas that we live in and having pollution affects the ability for us to live. When others hear people discuss the overall condition or about how unhealthy it is. Our environment is being pullulated every day. I have found several useful ways to protect the environment like recycling properly, reducing, and reusing. In what ways can we share ideas with one another help increase the overall condition of our environment? Recycling may seem repetitive but over time you can help keep items like a cell phone out of landfills that let toxins out into the air. For example my family and I use the three bins to help recycling a bit easier. We use a red bin with a hazardous symbol for glass, a blue bin for all our paper and newspaper every Sunday, and a black bin for acids like cell phones and batteries. We take each bin every month to the local dump that is about four-ten miles away. As a family we use paper bags instead of plastic bags which are non-biodegradable and could take anywhere between two hundred and one thousand years to decompose. Through the years I have helped start an organization for recycling at home. My father and I recycle not only glass and plastics but metals, yard waste, and cardboard. Reducing is often helpful in saving the environment and energy. Reducing has it’s affects in different ways than recycling. Reducing waste can help the landfills stay empty longer. During the summer our family creates a lunch basket full of reusable containers. Reduce waste by also using both sides of paper of course when can. This helps paper last twice as long. Each month I set up a clean-up group throughout the city to go and clean the beaches. This helps us feel better about ourselves even though it’s just a couple of miles means everything to me when people come visit. I spoke to the waste management guy that stops by my house that also feels the same about recycling and reducing says “Each can you recycle helps keep a light bulb working longer”. Reducing waste is only a small portion of what we have done. I also use ripped and torn clothing as rags instead of throwing them away. We also reduce the shower to a minimum turn off the water between appreciate times when water is not needed. Reducing the clutter of mail is also a way to that I have done in the last couple of years. I have reduced all my bills to online instead of wasting paper that eventually I end up throwing away. For example if I need to save anything I have created a folder on my desktop that all my bills get organized into. This one helps clutter but also helps with wear and tear some papers can go through in the matter of years. Reusing is just a small way of showing I care for my environment. I hardly ever pick up plastic bags but the few that I do bring home with me I usually use for storage instead of throwing them away. This helps our landfills stay clutter free of stuff that takes a very long time t
