There are many options out there for you to make once you complete high school. Any decision you make will affect you for the rest of your life and can make you either a success or a failure. While most people will push you to go to school and get an education that may not be the best choice for you depending on your interests in life. Many people go and get a 2 year, 4 year and even a master's degrees but simply cannot find a job in today's market. At the same time it's quite difficult to get into a trade unless you have experience or know somebody and have an "In . I have been lucky enough to experience both sides of this argument therefore can bring valid points from each. I believe that you should do what makes you happy in life, never settle for the easy way out and hate working your whole life. The point of a career is to do something you enjoy not just get a paycheck, that's what a job is. There's nothing wrong with doing general labor and there's no shame in not going to college. Some people just aren't meant to go to college while others do it with ease. There are plenty positives and negatives to working hard labor jobs. I have been to three different schools and have to say that a lot of the time going to work a couple hard hours for some really good cash seemed like the better choice to me. Making cash in hand every day made me feel better than going to class considering there's that strong chance I could end up not finding a job even after all the hard work of going to college. You make really good money as long as you know what you're doing and you get paid to exercise and be outdoors plus you learn plenty of skills that you can take with you the rest of your life. The negatives outweigh the good money though in my opinion. Working all day out in the blazing hot sun can be a toll for your skin and the shingles get so hot they melt and sometimes burn your knees or hands while working. When you go up two sometimes three stories in the air and are tearing off a roof with nothing but a 2x4 to save your life if you slip and fall can be one of the scariest things if you don't know what you're doing. The back pains from being hunched over everyday trying to get these jobs done are unbearable especially if you turn the wrong way. You are slowly ruining your body, have no proof of work or don't pay taxes if you're off the books, no health insurance, work is usually seasonal so you need to find something when there's no work. If you want new cars or a house you can't get loans without proof of work so you have to know people or save up and pay cash for anything you want. In the article "Why go to College at all? the author states that we should not be pushed into going to college and thinking that we can only be successful if we go to school (Ojalvo). They feel that it would benefit us to go out and experience the world and not have the mindset of having to return to school unless it's truly what we want to do. It shows that the same people that would do good in school would do just as good if not better when faced against others in the work field. They apply the same motivation skills they would at school but in something that gets them paid on the spot. The views about college only being a test of memorization and handing papers in is something I agree with I have been in jobs that don't require college degrees and never di
