Summary of test review (Summary of the reviewers review) Across the nation, there are various tests given to assess students of all ages. The GED (General Educational Development) is now one of the best and reliable assessments as of today. One of the main reasons the GED is now one of the best assessments is because of the exceptionally high reliability of the test, which ranges from .90 to .94. The greatest modification that has been done to improve this assessment has been the implementation of an essay examination. The essay examination section was added because the Tests Specification Committee advised that test takers should not be rewarded high-school equivalency if they cannot be determined to be sufficient in producing and organizing ideas, as well writing proficiently. Measures have also been taken to keep the scoring of the essay piece reliable by sending those who are training to Washington D.C. to be taught how to score appropriately. Two of the readers who have been trained will each analyze and score the essay, with a range of low of 1 to a high of 6. The two reader's scores are combined and the final score will be pulled from the total. If the scores of the two readers are drastically different, a third reader will read and score the paper. Although the scoring and modifications of the GED have been well-liked, the validity of the GED has yet to be proven. Part III. Publisher's Website A.
