What do the two plays Othello and Antigone have in comparison? Comparison is the similarities or things both plays have in common. They both have a lot in common, such as tragic heroes, stubbornness, and death. The tragic heroes are Othello and Antigone, stubbornness is shown by Othello, Iago and Creon, death is presented to majority of each character in both plays. In both plays, characters Othello and Antigone are considered tragic heroes in the fact that Othello defeated Venice, and was a respected man by his peers, and wife. Othello however was manipulated by Iago into believing that his wife Desdemona was unfaithful with man by the name of Cassio. Othello seemed as a hero to his townsmen but in the end died tragically from suicide when finding out that his wife’s death was over nothing but jealousy and lies. Antigone is considered a tragic hero because she risks her life to make sure her brother Polyneices gets the proper burial. Antigone was also tragically killed by suicide in her cell when she was in belief that she was going to be sentenced to death by Creon for disobeying his laws. Stubbornness is shown by Othello, Iago and Creon. Othello presents stubbornness when he refuses to believe his wife Desdemona, as she tells him multiple times she was faithful. Othello was under the impression that Iago was a honest man and that he could trust his word, so he felt that both Desdemona and Cassio were trying to deceive him when really it was the opposite. Iago was stubborn in the fact that he knew he was destroying a marriage, and friendships, but he didn’t care all he cared about was getting the lieutenant position he wanted. Creon showed that he was stubborn when he showed no concern for Antigone wanting to bury her brother and also when his son came to tell him that he would respect him regardless but that what he was doing was wrong also to think about his townspeople. Death is something that was present in many scenes. In
