In the document called “Relatio,” which translates to English from Latin means the “Report after debate” and it is the argument of homosexuality from the Vatican’s Synod, Pop Francis has said “If a gay person is a person of good will who seeks God, who am I to judge?” and this statement definitely alienated many conservative Catholics from the church. Therefore, it also brings out both the agreement and rejection from the community in common and there are the discussions about homosexuality between the special guests such as Father Tom Reese- a Jesuit Priest in Rome and Elizabeth Dias who is the correspondent for Time and she just got back from Rome. First of all, Father Tom Reese explain how significant the document is that it is still limited because it is a draft document which just brings out to discuss and it has not been approved by the Synod. However, it significantly reflects the attitude of the Synod toward the gay community that the speeches show different tone when Pop Francis wants to take the judge so that the nagging will be no longer on “their” back. Furthermore, the document which is discussed by the bishops also express the sympathy to the gay community that homosexuality does not define a person and a person is much richer than their orientation as well as every person has a dignity as a human person. Additionally, the church wants to get away from the old language of intrinsically disorder which comes across so insulting to the gay people and the church wants to apply the love and sympathy for everyone which shows much more welcoming attitude toward the gay community. In the same way, Elizabeth Dias shows her agreement about the concept of homosexuality which should be approved in Catholic Church and she explains the significant of the document is that the reaction of people and the world is watching and interested in what Pop Francis is doing.
