?Why Do It Today, If You Can Do It Tomorrow? Good Evening fellow Toastmaster’s Members, Ladies and gentlemen. Let’s be honest, is there something else that you are supposed to be doing right now? An online quiz due in 6 hours? Is there a stinky pile of laundry slowly entering the entrance of your bedroom door? You should be doing those things, but instead, you’re here listening to me, counting all the likes that I am about to say. If anyone wants to run out for a coffee, now would be the perfect time. Fiddle with your diaries, update your Facebook status, or even write a short poem. Anything to put that thing off a minute longer. But don’t you dare accuse the dog for chewing your homework, or your printer for malfunctioning. Because we all know what really happened here, don’t we? You can basically smell it on a person, and you can see it in their eyes. We all have done it at some point in our lives. You’ve been procrastinating! No one sits through a single research paper that did not mention the pitfall of procrastination. Many teachers have had their students warned to not procrastinate or they might fail. But in fact, only 1 in 5 people are chronic procrastinators- and these people have it down to an art form. You see, the dictionary will inform you that procrastination is putting off doing something until later. But in fact, procrastination is the incredibly amazing technique of gaining time to do the things you want. Parents and teachers may shake their fists and cry, “Procrastination!” But let me tell you why procrastination is just another word for “prioritization”. Career procrastinators often have bad reputation, but they are often the most creative and motivated people around. It’s just that, they use their strengths to benefit themselves.
