Have you ever experienced a dream that actually happened to you in reality? Dreams have fascinated people in many cultures over many years. Some cultures used their dreams as insight and guidance for their future. Nevertheless, until today, the hidden facts behind dream predictions still are considered as an ambiguous matter! Many people have perhaps heard or experienced an interesting story in dream predictions. Though, still there are others who just consider dreams as an ordinary condition. To have a better and wiser understanding of dream matters, we have to go through the recent studies digging deeply through the historical and religious visions. Dreams usually occur in the stage of sleep that is called rapid eye movement (REM) sleep. We begin entering this stage after the first 90 minutes when falling asleep. According to Lauri Quinn Loewenberg, an author and dream expert, an average person dreams every 90 minutes a night. The first dream lasts for five minutes, and the last one is about 45 minutes. She said that we dream approximately 100,000 times in a lifetime (Johnson). The question is, can all of those dreams we had be interpreted? Historical Vision The ancient Near Eastern text mentioned three types of dreams. The first is the Auditory Dream, which is a spoken revelation to an important person. It provides guidance and informs that person about the future. The second type is the Symbolic Dream, which provides the dreamer with a visual image that needs to be interpreted which also comes to an important person. The third type is the Psychological Status Dreams, which are images seen by an ordinary person. This type of dream requires interpretation to discover the hidden meaning in the dream (Gnuse 215).
