Death Penalty - Killing is a Crime

Is there anything worth taking a man's life? If somebody raped your sister and killed your mother should he die? Or is it any different if a store was completely blown up killing several people? Is it right then? A lot of people in the U.S., especially right-wing Republicans believe the death penalty is the right punishment for those who commit serious crimes. Considering they are called "conservatives , it is ironic that they support taking a living man's life but are strongly against allowing a mother to do it to her own unborn child. Their logic, or lack thereof, opposes many Democrats' views on the death penalty. Many see it as inhumane and a cruel punishment that should not be allowed in our legal system. Being a Democrat myself I agree with the view of capital punishment being cruel and not a reasonable punishment for any crime. Capital punishment, or the death penalty, should be banned in our legal system because it is inhumane, costly, and an easy way out for the criminal. The death penalty is "legalized in 32 states, (Dieter) and the U.S. is the only modern Western country that still continues to use it. Those who usually receive the death penalty are killers and rapists or crimes to that multitude. In View to a Kill, the family chose to witness the death penalty. The criminal killed the family's daughter and son. After the killing, they stated they felt relieved and as if a weight had been taken off their shoulders. They claimed that the killing would have filled the hole in their heart from losing their family members. I don't believe that when people hear of the death penalty they realize how severe it is. When using the death penalty you are taking somebody's life. A living human being loses his or her right to live. Even though the criminal took that away from somebody else does, that doesn't mean they deserve it also. Capital punishment would make are legal system a criminal too.
