A short-tempered college student named Nick reached into his pocket and pulled out his new gold iPhone 5. He stared at his phone screen for about five seconds, and then put it back in his right pocket. He repeated this motion ten to fifth-teen times in a library study room with six other group members who were staring at their blank study guide trying to study for their philosophy class. It was a Sunday night following one of the biggest day parties Nick and his friends threw for Cinco de Mayo. Therefore, most of the group members were drunk or hung-over. They were preparing to study for various final exams they had the next day. Nick couldn’t afford a bad grade. He was on academic probation with the school, and another bad grade would result in Nick being kicked out of school. He desperately needed a good grade, but he knew he had to make better choices when it came down to his nightlife. He had a blank and untouched study guide, his laptop open on Facebook, and felt absolutely clueless. The only thing Nick did have was a lime green notebook. Earlier at the day party, a girl in Nick’s class named Shannon showed up very intoxicated. Nick had no idea who she was, even though they were in the same class. He was casually siting down by a cheaply made bar located in the front yard, when Shannon approached him flirtatiously. She sat on his lap and wrapped her arm around his neck. After sitting quietly with her head down, she looked up and locked her sparkling blue eyes onto Nick’s face. Nick felt lost, confused, and out of place because of his history of bad luck with ladies, but he played along hoping he could get lucky. Shannon began talking to Nick seductively and said,” Nick, I’ve always wanted to say hi to you during class.” Her blue eyes slowly started coming closer to Nick’s, until she was almost touching his lips. Nick felt super excited but nervous at the same time. He had watched many college movies and TV series where many college guys’ dream was to hook up with the girl who he had a crush on in his class. As Shannon puckered her lips, Nick confidently made the final move until his lips made contact with hers. It had finally happened, he kissed the girl who he had been eager to just say hi to in
