Factors such as motivation, leadership, power and influence had a great impact on the working environment at Brewster-Seaview Landscaping Co. The effects of these elements caused several changes that made impacted the productivity levels of employees within the organization. During the first summer, in which Joe supervised the work, employees were highly motivated and committed to their tasks and duties. A lot of this stemmed from the fact that Joe always managed to maintain a positive working environment and have a good relationship with all of his employees. This changed during the second summer when two new supervisors were hired to manage the employees. There was a change in the motivational levels which were not as high as the previous summer. There was a strain on the supervisor-employee relationship, as both the supervisors attempted to impose their power upon the employees in an attempt to increase productivity, which ultimately did not pan out as expected. In order to improve the effectiveness of Brewster-Seaview landscaping and increase the efficiency and satisfaction levels of the employees, we've compiled a few plans of action for the short term and long term. Short-Term Action Plan Encourage, Motivate, Reward, and Recognize Employee Job Performance In order to motivate and encourage the employees, Joe should implement a reward system for both the existing employees and the new employees. Instead of the existing model, this new reward system should be monetary-reward based. According to Pop, The connection between the extra effort, the achievement of as superior performance and the receiving of compensation must be clear, direct, and strong, or at least it must be perceived so  (Pop,2009). Some examples that Joe may implement for the benefits system may include profit sharing from the overall sales and perhaps gift cards or other rewards.
