In the poem, My Papas Waltz, the father came home drunk and waltzed with his son. Although the scene of dancing seems to be fun, the boy mocks his dad in the poem. The father was a heavy drinker to the point where his breath made the little boy dizzy. This demonstrates that the father was a bad example to his son. His act affects not only the boy but also his wife. This poem shows mans passed experience from childhood. This memory was rather haunting than happy. The dance was so rough because his dad was unable to control his actions. It seems clear when he says, But I hang on like death. If the boy does not hold on to him with all his strength, he will fall down or maybe hit something. It was even more difficult for the boy to dance because of the fear he had in his fathers powers. The father was so hyper to the extent that the pans slid from the shelf. After the pans fell down. The mothers face could not stop frowning
