"A Child Called It" is a horrific story about a child who was severely abused throughout his childhood. The harsh psychologically disturbing actions and mentalities exemplified in the story egress an unfortunate side of life that no one human being should be put through in any instance. Through the struggle of growing up in such rough conditions there was little hope seen through the eyes of Dave. In order to survive from his mother's abusive actions, he must strictly implement the use of his own will power and the intellectuality that it would take to overcome any hardship thrown his way. In the early years of Dave's life, well, life wasn't as easy as you'd expect for a young boy growing up with two parents. At the early days of his young life, it seemed as though they had a happy functioning family that was perfectly acceptable in any society. At times it seemed as though his mom could never become the monstrous being that she portrayed herself as later on in the dreadful ladder portion of the story. Dave's early development as a young child is strictly dependent on the moral, intellectual, and physical support of his family and friends; and most importantly one or both of his parental figures. Throughout the mindset of the parents there were various problematic intellectual problems along with the apparent parenting problems that were present in the story. The day Dave's mother turned from a lovable typical mother to an enormously horrific person who psychotically bullied her son it was a turning point in the lives of many; but most importantly, Dave. The problems he faced on a daily basis were hugely dominative in how he was able to function on a daily basis. The emotional and physical abuse was so violent and horrific that Dave was faced with a choice of will power or default to nothing.
