According to Abernathy, Quindlen, and Theroux, Men in Society suffered more than women. There has always been pressure on men than women throughout the years, and men have been portrayed as idiots in society. Theroux touches on how a man is pressured to be a real man having to do certain things and be a certain way in life. Abernethy talks about the modern day males and how they portrayed as idiots and are now seen as more as a house dad than a working dad. Quindlen talks about the working men and how over time in society, they have changed drastically. Men has always been taught to act, dress, feel, think, and be a certain way because that's how most men in society are today, but being a man shouldn't mean "Be stupid, be unfeeling, obedient, soldierly, and stop thinking (Theroux 418). Even though women experience similar situations like men, like being told how to act like a lady, or told what to do, when it comes to being oppressed, men have it worse. The things that are being out on men at a young age are not making them any better because there are hardly any gentlemen in society nowadays. Sports are making majority of the guys today more aggressive, doing things that were supposedly called being Feminine were scolded upon. Nowaday's men are seen as the house dads or dumb fathers in society, and more women are out in the working force taking on their role. There is no denying it especially since all the TV shows today are sowing men in a different light such as King of Queens, Everybody Loves Raymond, and Reba.
