For my biographical paper I chose to write about James Hall. He is the interviewee in this interview. I chose James Hall because I wanted to choose someone that was not from Mississippi. He is from Georgia, and I have family from Georgia. I also have an aunt with the last name Hall by marriage. There was no real reason I chose James Hall to do my biographical paper on but for random choice. James Hall's interview was on June, 17 1994 in Sylvester, Georgia. He is being interviewed by Gregory Hunter. In this interview James Hall talks mostly about his background and life. He brings up many of his struggles and his family. James Hall was born in Neami, Georgia on May, 12 1917. His occupation is in agriculture and in carpentry. His educational background is interesting because of how schools are today. James Hall went to school for five to six months instead of the usual nine. He talks about how all the schools had one teacher per school for first through sixth or seventh grade. The dangers and concern that occur with oral history come in various ways. When people tell life experiences many changes can made throughout their stories. Today, we take everything we can into consideration to help us discover what possibly happened in the past. Since no one is living in that time to find out for themselves they ask and interview people that say they have gone through the experiences. When asked about what actually happened not all stories will be the same. The people that actually did go through these experiences could have gone through different things in that era. Lying is also a concern, and over exaggerating. People with these problems are what effect what we learn in history classes today. The problem with James Hall is that his mother had Alzheimer disease. With James Hall, as he has gotten older he tended to forget things himself. This is an example of a danger for using oral history as a primary source of evidence. Since James Hall did admit that he forgotten some of his experiences, his story is probably not accurate enough to be taught or so forth. The Jim Crow laws occurred between the years 1876-1965. These were the years of racial segregation. Through public places and even military forces racial discrimination and segregation were enforced and effected people in that lifetime. With
