Classrom Field Reflection

The class I am observing are fourth grade students and when I go into the class, the lesson is usually math, or the Chinese teacher is finishing up teaching the kids Chinese. I sit in the back and watch the lesson, and then when the kids start the homework, I'll get up and help as much as I can. The students have moved their tables so now there are four rows altogether, split down the middle and two on each side. The seats are arranged and rotates from boy, girl, boy, etc. Something I have noticed is the boy to girl ratio. Typically, there are usually 13 students, 4 girls and 9 boys. In some cases there is more boys sitting together, but they behave well together. There are three outliers in the class, and they are seated each in a corner of the class, and no one sits next to them. I've seen if they are seated next to someone, they are only a distraction to the other students. I used to think this was not right because I wondered if the students felt like they weren't included, but knowing how they act sitting with other students, and the transition in the class from when they're by themselves, I think its best that they are separated from the rest of the class. I think the student have a close relationship with the teacher thats is built on respect. There is a student in the class that is clearly disrespectful to the teacher, but every time she does talk back to the teacher, or is being a distraction in the class, she is told to flip a card, her name is “A”. When "A" does behave, and she raises her hand to answer a question, and gets the answer right, she'll still get treated like the rest of the students and get a piece of candy when it’s clear she's not always the most well behaved student. "A" and "T" are the only two students whom do not respond to the teaching methods used. They are the only two who do not listen or follow directions.
