Although a drama, this movie is full of comedy, which keeps the show enthralling. This is a series movie that was presented by Netflix in the summer of 2013. The movie is based on a true life story of Piper Chapman, a lady who graduated from Smith College in 1992. A year after her graduation she met a lady named Alex who worked with drug dealer from a West African country. Piper obtained money from the operation she did with her lover, Alex. She later moved to San Francisco where she met her fiancé, Larry. They both later moved to New York City. Piper was later arrested for drug trafficking, a charge for which she pled guilty. It was very hard for Piper when she told her friends and family that she was about to go to trial for drug trafficking and money laundering crime which she got her self involved in a decade ago. Piper was the last person they thought would ever end up in jail. Her friends and family were all laughing at her when she explained the details of the deal to them. They hardly could believe her story. Even her grandma was in disbelief, and asked Piper what she did with all the money she earned from the drug dealing deal. Her brother, on the other hand, was most interested about her sexual orientation; and kept asking is she was still a lesbian. Piper was not ready for her new life that was yet to begin in prison. She had to trade her present comfortable life with a new one in a female prison where she would have to fight in order to fit in and survive. It was a life in which she had to be bold and tough, and demonstrate absolute confidence in herself and what she would be capable of achieving in the prison environment. Piper’s journey to prison began a night before she went to turn herself in at the prison. She had a dinner-meeting with her family, her fiancé, her best friend and her hubby. They all talked about several issues. Her brother, however, was most interested in her sexual life; and kept making comments about her lesbian lifestyle. She wanted to know if Piper was still a practicing and active lesbian. Her grandma, on the other hand, was so concerned and worried about what Piper did with all the money she made from the drug dealing. Piper explained to them that she did not into drug dealing for the money; she only did it because of her relationship with Alex. They hardly could believe her. How could you go into a drug dealing business if not for the money, but simply for love? They just could not understand such a messed up life that Piper was presenting to them. The next day her fiancé drove her to the prison yard to drop her off so she could surrender to the prison authorities. An officer drove by and told Piper and Larry that today was not supposed to be visiting day for prisoners. Piper responded and told the officer that they were not there to visit any of the inmates, but that she was there to surrender to the prison authorities as a new inmate. She expected the officer to be surprised; which did not happen. Piper was unhappy at the officer’s action, and complained to Larry on how bad she looked, saying her eyes were puffy. She believed she looked like shit, a statement which means a sign of weakness in prison. Prior to going to prison Piper had read a book on what was expected of her as female prisoner; and what her responsibilities would entail while in prison. She wanted to go there pretending to be a tough girl in order to fit adequately into the prison environment. When she and Larry walked into the prison yard, they had a little chat. While they were having their last minute chat an officer told them that they were not allowed electronic gadgets inside the prison walls. They were asked to leave their cell phone in the car. Piper put on her sad face. She was worried that by the time she came out of prison, the Apple Iphone technology would have come out with new phone inventions because technology would not wait for her. It moved faster than one could master how to utilize the old one that is still in use. Piper waited patiently while her fiancé went to drop the phone in the car. Just about a minute before he came back another officer came and told Piper that it was time for her to go inside the prison ward. The officer handed a bag in which she asked to deposit all her personal belongings. Piper begged and pleaded with
