Cyberbullying is a big problem. When someone cyberbullies, they are less likely to get caught because they can bully anonymously. This makes them bolder in their attacks. Bullies are able to contact the victim anytime, and anywhere. There are five different types of cyberbullying. They are harassing someone, impersonating someone, photo harassment, creating websites, blogs, and polls, and participating in “Happy Slapping” (Gordon). All of this makes cyberbullying a very dangerous form of bullying. When cyberbullying is initiated, the victim will most likely not report it to an adult for fear that they will be the one in trouble. As it continues the victim will become more and more unsociable towards friends. He or she might also end up being excluded, and made fun of by people who didn’t even know them. Making it grow into something ten times bigger than it was when it started. There are five types of cyberbullying. The first is harassment. Harassment is when a person or a group of people makes fun of someone through private messaging on social media, texting them, and/or posting derogatory comments or rumors about them. The second is impersonating someone. When this happens, the bully creates a fake account or hacks into the victims profile on a social media website/app, and posts messages that will cause a negative outlook on them. The third is “happy slapping.” Happy slapping is when a bully posts or widely texts a video of the victim getting beat up or teased. Another is photo harassment. Photo harassment is when the bully posts or texts embarrassing pictures or nudes of the victim. It is also using embarrassing pictures to black-mail a victim. The last is creating a blog or website whose sole purpose is to make fun of and harass an individual. It also includes creating polls for people to say who is ugly and who smells etc (Gordon).
