Assignment Even though most of you do not expect to major in anthropology, you will continue to participate in human societies that operate according to concepts you've studied.  Discuss an example of how you might apply anthropological concepts to a situation or setting you expect to encounter. Response While taking this anthropology class, I have realized that the concepts discussed in class are commonly related to situations in a person’s daily life. It has mainly to do with foreign traveling and getting acquainted in new settings. It also involves understanding people’s culture and norms that are not similar to your own. When going through life, people use anthropological concepts to help understand how others function and acceptably act; it also helps determine how to treat people of foreign culture and behavior. As well as understanding different cultures, it helps one understand how different people might act within a culture. These anthropological ideas will help me understand culture better when I travel to Europe in a month. I will be doing a 3 month Euro-trip around the entire continent. I will be visiting many countries in Europe that might be close in location, but are very different when it comes to the culture of the natives. Throughout this trip I will be visiting and analyzing different cultures that have little similarities. First off I will be going to Spain where they only speak the native language of Spanish. While I am there, I will use anthropological ideas to help me determine the norms of that certain culture. For example, the way people greet each other, type of cuisine they favor, type of music made and listened too. These few cultural norms I have listed are just a few of the many norms that certain countries may have.
