It’s been three months since I just moved into Beverly Hills from Manhattan. I am living with my Grandma Maya ever since Dad died in the car accident, with a new guardian it brought drastic changes to my lifestyle, but I was able to adapt on. I’m more free and independent than ever, I don’t even have a curfew. My father was a rich business man, but before he passed away he never updated the property on his will from my dead mothers name; the government now owns all his belongings. Aurora, Eve, Delilah, Zac, and Dave are so good at stealing things, whether its clothes, bags, or accessories; they are my friends from Beverly High School. Aurora is blonde and pale, Eve and Delilah are twins with dark red hair, Zac is a soccer player with a muscular figure, and Zac has shaggy brown hair with bright blue eyes like the ocean. We were shopping at Northridge Mall and ran out of money after buying a Louis Vuitton bag. With grandma going bankrupt, I am trying my hardest not to use much of it on clothes but it isn’t working out. While we were at the mall, Aurora took a Michael Kors watch after trying it on and just left the store without the worker noticing. Both Eve and Delilah left with Kate Spade wallets, Dave took a tie, and Zac got a bottle of cologne. At the same time I was still deciding what to steal, but I’m scared at the same time. I never did anything like this before, what if I got caught? I have my eyes on a Sherri Hill prom dress, but there was no way I could hide that inside my bag. “Fold it inside your bag! I took a puffier dress and nobody noticed,” whispered Aurora. “Aurora’s right, grow some balls and get the dress,” stated Eva. “Ok, wish me luck.” I went inside the fitting room and stuffed the dress in my bag and left the store secretly when nobody was watching. It was so relieving when we left the store knowing I was safe now. “I didn’t think you’d come through,” said Eve, “I was sure you were going to leave it at the fitting room!” “Same here,” Aurora and Delilah said at the same time. We are all walking outside the mall and making fun of security. There’s a loud crash next to us and we get a little nervous. Then the sirens came on and we thought it was the cops. A man came out of the security car and pulled us all inside. We aren’t allowed to speak until the security guard “took us where we belong”. We drove past the police station and entered an abandoned garage. The security man drove inside and locked the garage shut, he turned on the lights and locked the car. The garage had wood and glass on the walls, it was dirty and smelled, and there were boxes on the right piled up on top of each other. My heart’s pounding. I feel like crying because I knew this wasn’t a security man, it was a kidnapper. I’m going to die and I’m never going to be able to go to prom. “I observed you all stealing items at the mall. Clever. Not getting caught, not getting in trouble is what I need,” the man was talking and as he did we could see his tongue piercing and his gold canon tooth. “As you guys can see, you can’t leave this place without me letting you. I have your phones so no cops involved and if I catch any of you leaving well lets just say I’ll let you leave this world,” he chuckled and let out and evil laugh, “I’m offering you each 5k if you help me out with some business, and if you do, we can pretend this never happened and I won’t disturb you all again. Understood? You have no choice but to do what I say or else I will kill you all right now.” He looked at us all sharply with his dark brown eyes as if he wanted revenge. We all shook our heads in terror of what he would make us do in order to live. He started talking to us about the plan he has and what we need to do. He instructed us that we’ll have to tell our parents we’d be gone for two days but we can’t tell them where. Our job is to steal drugs and money from the PMW gang at Santa Ana. He said we should call him Rowd, and that we need to blend in with the community at Santa Ana. If one of us doesn’t make it back we can’t say what happened. We all had no choice but to agree but the pressure was terrifying. I can’t risk my life for this man. I just need to run away and call the cops and I’ll be safe. “No,” I can’t believe I said that. “What did you say?” he sounded mad. “I am not going to die because of your little robbery. You can find other people to do so,” I got into the
