There are many things in America today that cause a fatal disease called cancer. More and more people are coming face to face with this deadly disease each day. More than 500,000 people die from cancer each year. That is why I'm going tell you about what cancer is, what causes cancer, and how cancer is fatal to your body. The scientific definition of cancer is: a disease caused by an uncontrolled division of abnormal cells in a part of the body. Which means cells in the human body split apart and are able to invade bodily tissue. There are many body parts and organs that cancer can infect. For example, the brain, blood, breasts, the lungs, prostate, ovaries, bones, and the bladder. Each one of these have different names. For instance, blood cancer is called leukemia, and sarcoma is bone cancer. When cells grow old they typically should die off and be replaced with new cells, but in some cases this process goes wrong. Some cells become mutated and affect other cells growth process, which is how cancer starts. In America, you hear about something new that causes cancer every day. Scientists have recently discovered that too much use of your cell phone can emit tiny amounts of radiation, causing cancer cells to form. It seems today that anything you do can cause cancer, and in some ways this is true. There is a very long list containing all the different causes of cancer. One cause of cancer is genetics. some types of cancer run in certain families genes. Another cause is carcinogens, such as tobacco products, and the fumes that vehicles emit. One of the main causes of cancer is sun and the exposure to its UV rays. There are many more causes than just these, I have just named a few on the long list of causes of cancer. One of the main questions that comes to a persons mind when they are diagnosed with cancer is, will I die? Well, in some cases yes, and in some cases no. Not all types of cancer are fatal.
