Preventing crime and harm to others...can you make a difference? Of course you can! Any help can greatly contribute to preventing crime or harm done to peers or friends, especially in the place where learning happens! Sadly, schools have been mixed up in the crime scene due to some people who do no good. Since 1996, mass shootings in schools have occurred. Weapons can be so easy to conceal that there might be great danger lurking in your hallway. To begin, there are many weapons that can be used to harm fellow peers, some are very easy to conceal, which makes it even harder to prevent crime. Some weapons that can be used to hurt people are shotguns, pistols, muzzleloaders, revolvers, and rifles which are all guns. Also, some other weapons include hammers, clubs, and the easiest to hide, a knife. These are the most common weapons used in crimes. Some people can be clever, using their intelligence in a bad way, to hide and use these weapons in public places, schools have sadly been included. If you ever found a weapon in your school, do not touch it! Go immediately go to an adult and inform them. The weapon can be charged and if it is fired by a curious peer, someone is likely to get hurt. An adult can call the police to come get it, sometimes; the gun can have a grenade attached, which someone might not notice. Never touch the weapon, try to create a circle around it with objects to hint out to other people to not go near it while you contact an adult. In addition, Most of the time, a person would be terrified to hear that someone in your school has a weapon. What can you do without getting hurt? You can report it immediately to an adult or staff member in your school. If you're afraid the person carrying the weapon might go after you, ask the adult to keep whoever said that a person had a weapon anonymously. You could also stop by a counselor's office or desk and leave a note with no name; another great way to report it anonymously. A
