There is a square that reads what her mom is thinking. She is describing her experience at McDonald’s with her daughter after her first ballet recital. At the bottom shows what each of them ate at McDonald’s. This McDonald’s ad uses many different propaganda techniques. One technique this ad uses is glittering generalities. Glittering generalities are descriptive words to make things sound better. The ad used words such as “munching”, “fresh”, and “warm”, instead of “eating” and “clean”. This technique strives to make us approve and accept without proof and evidence (Delwiche, Glittering Generalities). Using glittering generalities make things more appealing. Another technique this ad uses is transfer. The type of transfer is testimonial. Transfer uses topics that are not necessarily related to the product to catch your attention. The mother shares her experience of eating McDonald’s with her daughter. This ad shows that this was the little girl’s first ballet recital. For all parents watching their child perform makes them feel proud. Especially when it is their first time. The mother said that going to the ballet recital and eating McDonald’s afterwards was one of the best days of her life. The ad tries to make you connect dancing with eating McDonald’s.
