As an agent of socialization, it is an individual who is influenced by the replication of social order, such as following the rules, expectations, norms, morals, values, and old traditions of a given social order. There are two major source of socialization, primary and secondary. A primary socialization that influences us are families. Families are extremely important because it provides us wealth, quality of our lifestyle discipline and habits. And a secondary source of society refers to the development of learning what is appropriate behavior as a member of a smaller group within the larger society. It is usually associated with teenagers and adults, areas such as school, and usually occurs smaller changes than those in primary socialization. The values we learn in primary socialization might be changed throughout our life but will never really fade away. Family is the first form of socialization we get in contact with, without them we won’t be inadequately socialized and can become isolated children, they also teach us important lessons of morals. For instance, a major influence my family taught me is “filial piety”, a respect and obedience for elders and our ancestors. This a culture practiced mainly in the Asian society. Filial piety means to be good to your parents and take care of them just as they took care of you, not be rebellious or ungrateful, show love, respect and support. This kind of culture has been passed down centuries and centuries ago. Being this role of “agents of socialization” it shaped me as a person who knows how to give back to parents that put in so much effort in providing us with the best in our life and nurturing us with love and affection along the way with knowledge and morals. Family is impossible to completely disconnect with. Because of them, we are borned with multiple fixed conditions. Such as family and social connection, social and financial statuses, job opportunities, values and initial
