Anna checked the clock in the back of the room and was relieved to see the school day was almost over. The girl behind her had asked why she got so freaked out when she was braiding her hair, but Anna just replied with saying it brought back an unpleasant memory. The girl continued to obsess over Anna’s hair and said how she wished her hair were as long as hers. Anna abruptly interrupted the girl and said in a frightening tone that no one were to wish they had Anna’s hair. Irritated by the rude interruption, the girl decided to drop it, and not question Anna anymore. A gusty wind carried the deep dark red, pumpkin orange, and sunflower yellow leaves as they began to slowly make their way to the cold ground. The seventh grade children streaked with joy as the clock struck two and the school bell rang, initiating thanksgiving break. All the students went running out of their classrooms, to their parent’s cars or the bus. As Anna climbed into her mom’s car, her long blonde hair was not completely inside when she closed the door. She casually reopened the door and collected the stuck hair, as that was occasionally apart of her routine. She was ecstatic to get a haircut today, hopefully ending her hair getting caught in the door for a while. When Anna and her mom, Mary arrived at the hair salon, she informed Mary that she had decided to do something bold this time around, and wanted to get a bob cut. Her mom, shocked by this decision questioned Anna. Mary argued that Anna had never wanted her hair short, and that it would take a very long time for it to grow back to the current length. But, Anna confident in her decision got it cut, and murmured that maybe this would prevent it from happening again. After a long day at school, Anna was eager to go to bed.
